Silvia Petkova holds a PhD in Criminal Law from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and is a member of the European Criminal Bar Association.
She completed her Master’s degree in Law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, and concurrently with her studies, in 2010, she specialized in English Law and European Union Law under a joint program of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, the University of Cambridge, and the British Legal Centre.
In 2015, she completed a postgraduate qualification in law-making and impact assessment of policies and legal acts at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.
In 2016, she participated as a lecturer in training seminars for civil servants in the disciplines of “Impact Assessment of Draft Legal Acts”, “Regulatory Policy and Regulatory Reform”, and “Social Impact Assessment”.
Silvia Petkova is a criminal law and human rights lawyer from the Sofia Bar Association. She is the author of over 250 scientific and practical publications in Bulgarian and foreign legal journals.
She specializes in the defense of individuals dependent on psychoactive substances (alcohol, drugs) and gambling, facing charges for serious crimes.
She is an initiator and participant in numerous public discussions related to legislative issues in the field of criminal law and human rights.
She successfully handles numerous cases related to protection against institutional abuse.
